How To Care For Your Extensions
- Wait 48 Hours After Installation: Do not wash, style with heat, or get your hair wet for the first 48 hours after application. This allows the adhesive to bond properly.
- Wash Gently: After the initial 48 hours, wash your hair gently using a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Focus on massaging the shampoo into your scalp and roots, but avoid applying conditioner or oils near the tape bonds—apply only from mid-lengths to ends.
- Brush Properly: Use a wide-tooth comb or loop brush to detangle your hair. Always start from the ends and work up to the roots, supporting the hair near the tape bonds to avoid pulling or stress.
- Dry Carefully: Let your hair air dry when possible, or use a blow dryer on a low or cool setting. Avoid directing heat directly at the tape bonds.
- Avoid Oils and Silicones: Do not use oil-based products or heavy conditioners near the roots or tape bonds, as these can weaken the adhesive. Also, avoid shampoos and conditioners with silicones.
- Nighttime Care: Before bed, gently brush your hair and loosely braid or tie it in a ponytail. Using a silk pillowcase or bonnet can help prevent tangling and friction.
- Limit Heat Styling: Use heat protectant sprays and keep hot tools away from the tape bonds. Excessive heat can weaken the adhesive and damage the extensions.
- Regular Maintenance: Schedule a visit with your stylist every 6–8 weeks to reposition or replace the tape tabs as your natural hair grows.
- Avoid swimming or excessive sweating for the first 48 hours after installation.
- Do not sleep with wet hair, as this can cause tangling and matting.
- Brush your extensions 2–3 times daily to prevent tangles.
- Use lightweight, extension-friendly products and avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol-based products.
